Tulipa acuminata, the 'Turkish tulip', is one of garden history's most fascinating tulips: narrow, spidery petals twist like red-and-yellow flames — wild art rather than classic tulip. Described in 1813, probably grown in the Middle East since the 17th century. Flowers in April on slender 45 cm stems; give it a dry, sunny, well-drained spot and this species tulip returns for years. Plant 10 cm deep, 8 cm apart.
Plant the bulbs in autumn (September–November) before the frost arrives. Set them pointy end up in well-drained soil — as a rule of thumb 2-3 times the bulb's height deep. Water after planting, then let nature do the rest. After flowering, let the foliage die down completely before removing it so the bulb can recharge for next year.
We ship with GLS (39 kr.) and PostNord home delivery (59 kr.) — free GLS shipping over 699 kr. In-stock bulbs ship within 1-3 working days. Pre-ordered bulbs ship together in the delivery window shown.
