Probably the world's most popular red garden tulip — an iron-strong Darwin hybrid grown since 1951. Classically shaped warm red blooms with a cherry hint and a handsome yellow-and-black base, on steadfast 50 cm stems in April. Plant 15 cm deep in full sun and it returns year after year. Perfect in big generous groups.

Plant the bulbs in autumn (September–November) before the frost arrives. Set them pointy end up in well-drained soil — as a rule of thumb 2-3 times the bulb's height deep. Water after planting, then let nature do the rest. After flowering, let the foliage die down completely before removing it so the bulb can recharge for next year.
